Rajavin Parvaiyile is a 1995 Tamil romantic drama film directed by Janaki Soundar. It stars Vijay with Indraja, Ajith Kumar and Mohan Natarajan. Music by Ilaiyaraaja. It was released on 5 August 1995.
Gowri, the daughter of a wealthy landowner, visits her uncle's village Thulasipatti and is drawn to Raja, a poor but studious farm worker who wants a decent job and keeps his distance from her. Raja's guardedness comes from a painful past: his friend Chandru killed himself after the girl he loved, Shanthi, was married off by her father. As Gowri befriends Raja's mother and sees his decency, the two eventually fall in love. Their relationship runs into fierce opposition from Gowri's aunt and her status-conscious father Rajasekaran, who arranges her marriage to someone else and turns violently on Raja's family.
Vijay plays Raja, a poor, earnest village youth — an early lead role in his third year as a hero. The film is historically significant as the only film in which Vijay and Ajith Kumar shared the screen.
Figures are trade estimates reported at the time and may vary.
The only film in which Vijay and Ajith Kumar have appeared together; Ajith plays Raja's friend Chandru in a flashback role.
Music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja.
Director Janaki Soundar also wrote the film.
Comedian Vadivelu sang the song 'Ammanuke Adanki' himself.
The audio rights were held by Pyramid Music and Music Master Records.
The film was reportedly made on a budget of about ₹20 lakh and grossed about ₹1.90 crore.
It was re-released in Tamil Nadu theatres on 6 January 2023, riding on interest in the Vijay–Ajith pairing.
Indraja played the female lead, Gowri.
Little contemporary critical coverage is documented; the film is mostly remembered today for its casting rather than its reviews.
Its standing as the lone Vijay–Ajith on-screen pairing has given it cult curiosity value, leading to a theatrical re-release in 2023.
