Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay opened the Aavin State Central Laboratory annexe at the Madhavaram dairy in Chennai on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. The Tamil Nadu Co-operative Milk Producers' Federation built it for ₹2.23 crore. During the same visit he reviewed work on a new ₹152.26 crore dairy plant (Deccan Chronicle, Zee News).

About 120 vehicles a day carry milk from Madhavaram across north Chennai. The Chief Minister asked how milk is collected from farmers and delivered to homes, and told officials to finish the new plant quickly (Deccan Chronicle, Zee News).
Dairy Development Minister Vijayalakshmi, MLAs M.L. Vijay Prabhu and N. Senthil Kumar, Tamil Nadu Housing Board Chairman V. Siva, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Secretary Anu George, and Aavin Managing Director S. Sivarasu attended.
