Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay made his first official visit to Pudukkottai district on Monday, 2 November 2026, opening a new bus stand, inaugurating 44 completed works, laying foundation stones for 70 more and handing over welfare assistance to 13,676 beneficiaries. It was the first stop of his November district tour.
The CM flew from Chennai to Tiruchirappalli in the morning and travelled to Pudukkottai by road. Large crowds lined the route to welcome him, and the visit turned into a roadshow through the town.
The CM opened the new bus stand, built at a cost of ₹23.25 crore, and went round the building after officials explained its layout plan. It is reported to have about 60 bus bays, shops, waiting halls and rooms for nursing mothers and facilities for persons with disabilities. It is meant to ease traffic in the town centre and handle growing inter-district travel.
